Approach

SONRREC work has benefitted over 20 Somali government ministers, departments and agencies, many local companies, cooperatives, and stakeholders communities in Somalia. Our programs cover all natural resources sectors, from land restoration to ocean conservation, and we actively participate in national and international conservation management measures platforms.

During the past five years, our work has demonstrated improvements in natural resources management, particularly in Somalia. We have contributed to data management policies that enhance governance and decision-making on land restoration, coastal development policies that address the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and resource management strategies that address climate change adaptation. We have also worked on policies that ensure resource management policies and strategies understand and mitigate resource user conflicts.

We work closely with our clients to develop and maintain social capital within a trust-based relationship with their stakeholders and communities. Our team develops project-specific engagement strategies that identify the most appropriate stakeholder engagement approaches.

SONRREC continues to enhance our research and analysis by staying current on research methods and protocols. SONRREC projects have conducted extensive research and analysis to prepare resource management engagement strategies, climate change adaptation strategies, water resources, fisheries studies, and marine transportation plans.

Increased stakeholder participation reduces human activity on natural resources, providing space for the land and ocean to recover. Healthy ecosystems lead to improved human well-being.
