Abdullahi Hassan is a co-founder of the Somali Natural Resources Research Center (SONRREC). He is a management committee member of the International Water Association-Water Security and Safety Management Specialist Group and Central Director and Executive Committee member of International Water Association for Young Water Professionals Canada.
Abdullahi worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation for the Federal Republic of Somalia as a Director for Irrigation and Meteorology and as a Director of Food Security and Early Warning systems.
Abdullahi holds a double Master’s degree in Integrated River Basin Water Resources Management and Disaster Resilience Leadership respectively with international professional certificates in International Water Law for Transboundary Water resources in Africa, Specialized course in Irrigation management, flood and drought management, and GIS and remote sensing in the water sector.
He worked with government, Inter-governmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations in various Senior Positions. He has a wide range of experience in the field of Irrigation and Agriculture Water Management, Food security, and Early warning systems. He attended and played a key role in many continental and global conferences in water and the environment. His research focused on Water Security for Juba and Shabelle river basins in Somalia.
